Newcastle fans were far from impressed with Fabricio Coloccini's performance against Swansea City.
The Magpies opened the campaign with a 2-2 draw against Southampton, but were well beaten by Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
An early goal from Bafetimbi Gomis gave the Swans the lead, before Magpies defender Daryl Janmaat was sent off for two bookable offences on the stroke of half time.
Andre Ayew made it 2-0 in the second half with a fine header from a Jefferson Montero cross, putting the Magpies well out of the game.
Ayew's goal came as he beat Newcastle veteran Fabricio Coloccini in the air, despite his diminutive 5ft 9in stature - compared to the 6ft centre back Coloccini.
The Argentine, who has been with Newcastle since 2008, recently signed a new contract amid interest from Crystal Palace, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
However, Newcastle fans were fuming with Coloccini's display against Swansea, slamming him for his part in Ayew's goal - before wondering whether they missed an opportunity by spurning Palace's advances and extending Coloccini's stay on Tyneside.
Here is how Newcastle United fans reacted on Twitter to Coloccini's poor display against Swansea City earlier today...
Can't understand Colo situation.Give him a new contract when he can't defend in the air! 4 goals conceded this season ,3 headers.#nufc— Gary Milburn (@GARYMILBURN1) August 15, 2015
Is Colo undroppable given the new contract, and captaincy? #nufc— Bjørn Westblad (@bjorwesToon) August 15, 2015
Colo again losing a header. Good cross, and leap, but still... #nufc— Bjørn Westblad (@bjorwesToon) August 15, 2015
I know he had no pre season but Colo is finished we need to sign an experienced dominant centre half or we'll continue to ship goals #nufc— Shaun Durning (@SDMorpeth) August 15, 2015
Starting to wonder if not ditching Colo was a missed opportunity.... #NUFC— Texas Toon (@Texas_Toon) August 15, 2015
Make no mistake about it, until we rid ourselves of Coloccini we'll be a bottom half team at best. Long past his sell by date #nufc— Paul (@PaulMcilduff) August 15, 2015
Coloccini gets massively out-jumped and out-muscled by 5"9 Andre Ayew, quite simply unacceptable for a man of his size and experience. #NUFC— Geordie News (@Geordie_news) August 15, 2015
