Jamie Carragher has revealed in The Daily Mail that Liverpool defender Kolo Toure convinced his brother Yaya Toure not to leave Manchester City.
“I bumped into Kolo Toure at Liverpool’s academy during the summer and he had clearly played a part in changing his brother’s attitude,” former Liverpool defender wrote in The Daily Mail.
“He’d told him to stay at City because he is a legend there and to leave after the poor season he had would taint his legacy.
“Kolo was also convinced that he’d have a great season after a summer of rest physically and mentally.”
Big player for Manchester City?
Toure is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a key player in the current City squad.
The Ivory Coast international has been on the books of the Citizens since 2010 and will be crucial in their attempt to regain the Premier League title this season.
The 32-year-old was far from his best for Manuel Pellegrini’s side last season, but he has made an encouraging start to the 2015-16 campaign.
Against West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Monday evening, the former Barcelona midfielder scored one goal and created two chances.
Toure also had a pass accuracy of 96% and won one dribble during the 79 minutes he was on the pitch.
