Andrew Hughes has been singing the praises of Leeds United defender Sam Byram on BBC Radio Leeds.
The former Leeds midfielder believes that Byram is the best right-back in the Championship and seems to rate him very highly.
“Byram is the best right-back in the Championship,” Hughes told BBC Radio Leeds. “He is a natural right-back. He is one of those players who never needs to be coached.”
Byram has been at Leeds his entire career and is one of the most important players in the current squad.
The youngster showed his versatility last season when he featured as a right-winger for a number of games.
In 39 Championship appearances during the 2014-15 campaign, the 21-year-old scored three goals and created 39 chances.
The Englishman had a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 43%, and won 91 headers, 20 dribbles and 56 tackles.
Byram will be an important player for Leeds this season, as the West Yorkshire outfit aim to finish in the top six of the Championship.
The youngster’s runs down the right flank and his crosses will help the Whites score goals as the season progresses.
