Since Alan Shearer joined Twitter, he has become very good at summarising things in short snippets. Maybe that 140 character limit was something he always needed. Bravo to the BBC man, too, for the improvement in the standard of his punditry.
But, where Newcastle and Sunderland are concerned, Shearer's ability to summarise things won't really ever serve as good news to the clubs.
That's unless they start winning, of course, for the Newcastle legend's latest venture onto social media has summed up North East football's current state.
Looks like another tough season for the North East in the @premierleague then— Alan Shearer (@alanshearer) August 15, 2015
Indeed, having conceded seven goals in just two games already, the R word is already being mentioned in the same sentence as Sunderland as though it is an inevitable outcome.
For the Magpies, meanwhile, things should improve with time but there was a sense that Steve McClaren should have been a little better prepared considering the exact same Swansea players that hurt Chelsea did the damage against his Newcastle side.
At this rate, the North East's only ray of hope will come in the Championship from Middlesbrough. Aitor Karanka's men beat Bolton Wanderers 3-0 while Newcastle and Sunderland toiled.
Although could things just get worse for them if they are promoted?
