The Dane is however likely to cost a much higher amount.
Tottenham Hotspur were given a boost yesterday, as Clinton N’Jie’s transfer from Lyon was finalised and they trimmed the wastage slightly with Roberto Soldado set to complete his move to Villarreal later today.
The club is also positive of fighting off any interest in star striker Harry Kane and another striker will surely come through the entrance door at some point.
However, whilst many might consider Kane as Tottenham’s star player, the other argument is for Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen.
The former Ajax star has been consistently one of Spurs’ best since his arrival in 2013 and forged a reputation as a game-changer in midfield.
With that in mind, the news from Italy this morning will not be welcomed by Spurs fans.
Tutto Mercato Web is reporting that Italian paper Quotidiano Sportivo is today leading with a headline suggesting that Juventus are keen on signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham.
The claim is that Juventus chief Beppe Marotta is ready to launch an €18 million bid for the player this summer.
Of course that would be flatly denied by Spurs. That equates to roughly £13 million – a paltry fee for a player of Eriksen’s ability.
Juventus, who have recently seen big earners like Carlos Tevez, Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal leave the club, would be expected to fork out much more than that if they were serious about the Dane.
For now Tottenham fans should not worry. However, Juve did make the Champions League final last season and Eriksen may be lured by their European prestige.
But not at that price.
