According to a report in the French editorial Foot 365, the agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has approached Arsenal in the hope of seeking a potential switch this summer.
The France international’s future in Paris has been widely speculated due to his lack of playing time last season and subsequent signing of Benjamin Stambouli from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 20-year-old has been cited as a top transfer target for Tottenham, according to Le Parisien, yet Spurs’ alleged interest is inconclusive with no bids as yet coming to the fore for the youngster.
With his intentions still set on leaving, fresh reports from Foot 365 now claim agent Veronique Rabiot has begun to approach Premier League sides seeking a potential deal, starting with Arsenal.
Rabiot has a contract with PSG until 2019 and club president Nasser Al Khelafi wants the player to stay. However, Rabiot is said to be actively seeking an exit and could ultimately be granted one this summer.
Should Arsenal make a move?
Following Arsenal’s opening Premier League defeat, supporters and pundits alike have once again questioned the need for added defensive midfield competition.
Francis Coquelin is an excellent competitor, but against strong opposition away from home perhaps there is scope for added midfield protection alongside the Frenchman.
Rabiot boasts plenty of talent and plays in an intelligent fashion despite his young age. If the Gunners are in the market for an extra defensive midfielder, the PSG star represents a sound possibility.
