Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has told the club’s official website that he feels teammate James Forrest performs at a different level when he’s fit.
Bitton has named Forrest as one of the club’s players who caught his eye when he linked up with the club, but he’s struggled to maintain a regular position in the club’s squad under Ronny Deila, due to injury issues.
Bitton also suggested that it’s important the club focus on getting back to winning ways, after dropping their first points of the season earlier this week against Kilmarnock.
“James is a great player. Since day one at the club I thought he was a top player and when he is fit he’s a different level. He shows us every day in training and he did it tonight,” he told celticfc.net.
“Right now the most important thing is that we don’t lose points like that and we just keep winning.”
Forrest will get plenty of chances
Forrest, and the entire Celtic squad, should get plenty of chances over the coming months because it’s a very long, intense and high pressure campaign for the club.
While Deila will be preparing his team for the game against Inverness, he will definitely have half an eye on the match against Malmo next week.
That Champions League play-off represents the potential for even more matches in a higher profile and higher quality competition.
Forrest needs to make the most of the chances he does get so that he’s in a position to make sure that when those big European nights come around again, he’s one of the first names down on the team sheet.
