Eriksen and more Spurs stars react to Roberto Soldado departure

Spurs on Friday confirmed the sale of the Spaniard to Villarreal after a disappointing two years.

Tottenham Hotspur on Friday announced the departure of striker Roberto Soldado to Villarreal, as per the club’s official site.

The 30-year old leaves after an unfortunate two-year spell, in which he failed to ever adjust to the demands of the Premier League.

The striker, who joined Spurs in a big-money deal in the summer of 2013, managed just 16 goals in his 73 appearances and leaves for a fee of around £10 million, according to ESPN.

Tottenham fans took him to their hearts despite his lacklustre return - with his active social media presence playing a major role - and the former Valencia man fittingly left a touching and honest goodbye message on his Instagram page.

He becomes the fourth of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ signed with the Gareth Bale windfall to leave this summer as Mauricio Pochettino takes steps to build a young, hungry squad who will buy into his methods.

Several of his former team-mates took to Twitter to wish the Spaniard well, including a somewhat forgotten man at White Hart Lane. Can the 30-year-old rebuild his career and reputation in La Liga?
