Celtic fans send message to Deila as highly-rated Kieran Tierney signs new contract

Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has signed a new contract.

Celtic have announced on their official website that they have tied down left back Kieran Tierney to a brand new four-year contract after the teenager broke into the first team.

The 18-year-old defender has come up through the ranks at Celtic, and is now making an impression in the first team having made his first league start at Celtic Park on the opening day of the season against Partick Thistle almost two weeks ago.

Celtic have recently been signing Scottish talent from rival clubs, such as Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven, but now Ronny Deila has a player of his own to develop, with Tierney penning a new four-year deal following that impressive display against Partick Thistle.

Celtic fans have been reacting on Twitter ever since the club announced the deal, and there seems to be a recurring them in their responses to the deal.

Supporters largely want to see Tierney starting games at left back instead of long-term incumbent Emilio Izaguirre, whose performances have been disappointing in 2015.

Tierney's new deal now gives him the security to go and push the Honduran international, with Celtic fans sending Deila a clear message that their teenage prodigy should be playing more regularly - not Izaguirre.

Other fans seemingly would have preferred to see a new player brought in to compete with Izaguirre, but the new deal has widely been met with approval - as long as Deila uses him more frequently.

Here are some of the reactions from Celtic fans as Tierney commits his future to the Bhoys for the foreseeable future...
