Derby haven’t got off to a great start to this season under Paul Clement as they continue to search for their first competitive win under their new manager.
Baird has suggested that back-to-back home games have the potential to leave the side with some momentum, as they look to get moving in the right direction.
“We’ve got back-to-back home games – against Charlton on Saturday and Middlesbrough on Tuesday - which is important,” he told dcfc.co.uk.
“The days are going to be really vital for us, to recover properly and get ready for a big game at the iPro Stadium.”
“We’ve had a draw at Bolton, which was a good point and a clean sheet, so we have to look ahead now and get our season up and running with a win on Saturday.”
A boost in confidence
Wins over the club’s next two games will provide a needed boost in confidence across different areas.
The manager will start to believe that the methods he’s trying to get across to his players are being understood, with his tactical changes and judgements over games being made correctly.
For the players, it will give them some positive belief that they can be competitive in the Championship this season and over an extended period of time, Derby should be one of the teams up near the top.
For the fans, it will give them the confidence that the team are moving in the right direction and they can shake off some negative memories of disappointment over the way the team ended last season.
