Xherdan Shaqiri breaks another Stoke City record just a few days after signing

The arrival of the Swiss international has clearly caught the imagination of Potters fans.

New signing Xherdan Shaqiri has already broken a second Stoke City record without having kicked a football, according to the club website.

The Mail have said that the Swiss star's £12 million move is a club record high, eclipsing what the Stoke site still say is the £10 million they paid Tottenham for Peter Crouch.

And coming after a whole succession of the top Premier League clubs were linked with someone that has consistently been dubbed one of the most promising youngsters in Europe, it is no surprise that Potters fans have gone, well potty for their new arrival, if you excuse the pun.

The Stoke website have reported that replica shirts of the club's new star man, with Shaqiri having picked the number 22 to wear in his first Premier League season, have sold quicker than any other shirt in the history of the club.

They also report an increase in the purchase of season cards and tickets for the club's upcoming matches.

Stoke fans will now be hoping to see their new hero make his debut as the Potters visit White Hart Lane this weekend, whether it is from the bench, or as they would hope, from the start of the match.
