West Ham United media round-up: Midfield target back on the market

A selection of the latest news concerning West Ham United.

West Ham have been handed a boost in the race to sign Alen Halilovic, as the club close to signing him have pulled out of the deal.

As confirmed by Hamburger SV’s official Twitter account, the Bundesliga club cancelled a season-long loan deal as they could not offer the midfielder playing time assurances that Barcelona wanted.

The tweet reads: “We decided not to loan Alen Halilovic from Barcelona. We cannot guarantee him the desired playing time.”

It remains to be seen whether the Hammers go back in for the Croatian starlet after attempting to sign him on loan earlier in the summer.

Slaven Bilic has also discussed other potential transfer business, confirming the club are looking to bring in “one or two players’ before the window closes.

Quoted by the official club website, Bilic said: “We are trying to sign one or two players, not five. But we are confident we will get one, and even if we don’t we have a good team. Of course we will have to be lucky with injuries, that’s normal.”

Finally, as reported by HITC Sport, the Hammers are willing to let young striker Elliot Lee leave the cub on loan this season.

A number of Football League clubs are said to be tracking the 20-year-old, having seen him impress during outings in the Europa League this season.
