Ryan Mason looks ahead to Tottenham's first home clash with Stoke.
Ryan Mason expects an electric atmosphere at White Hart Lane on Saturday while he anticipates a Tottenham victory if his club are able to perform at their very best.
The midfielder is yet to start for Spurs this season, having sustained an injury during pre-season.
However, he featured off the bench against Manchester United at Old Trafford and is widely expected to make his return to the starting line-up as the Lilywhites welcome the Potters.
Talking ahead of the club's weekend clash, the England international expressed his excitement.
“We haven’t had a pre-season game at the Lane this year so it’s exciting to be playing there for the first time this season on Saturday,” said the 24-year-old," he told the club's official website.
“We all want to put on a performance and get the three points to make it a special day for everyone.
“I thought we were unlucky against United, but Stoke at home is going to be a difficult game as well. But it’s our ground and we’ll be confident of picking up the points.”
When asked if Stoke have a psychological advantage over Spurs following their victories in 2014-15, he replied:
“I wouldn’t say anyone does, they just out-performed us both times they played us."
“I’m sure if we perform to our true abilities then we can win the game. As we do every week, we’ll just concentrate on ourselves and make sure we do as best we can.”
The psychological advantage gained from Stoke's victories last term cannot be underplayed, but Mason is evidently confident in his side's abilities to emerge from Saturday's fixture with a positive result.
The players will be required to put past results behind them and focus on their own potential - which they were able to show in glimpses throughout their opening weekend defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
