West Brom are set to formalise their interest in Tottenham defender Fazio by making a bid.
As reported by the Birmingham Mail, West Brom are set to formalise their interest in Fazio, with an imminent bid expected to be made for the Argentine centre-back.
The 28-year-old looks to be out of the running for playing time at Spurs this season, with the summer arrivals of Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer pushing him far down the pecking order after a poor debut season in England.
He was not named in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the opening game of the Premier League season, and the report states that Tony Pulis is ready to make his move for the defender.
The Baggies have already contacted Spurs about the transfer of the centre-back, and are set to imminently submit a formal offer for him.
The report indicates that Fazio should be available for roughly £8 million, and considering his combination of strength, height and talent on the ball, Pulis may be willing to pay out that amount for a player who suits his system.
There are still doubts about his defensive line, and although James Chester arrived this summer, the natural centre-half is expected to continue in the right-back role he played in against Manchester City.
If Fazio arrives at the Hawthorns, it will allow him to partner with either Craig Dawson or Joleon Lescott in the heart of the defence, with Pulis unwilling to sanction the sale of Lescott to Aston Villa unless it is for a large offer.
