Report: Tony Pulis not keen on signing Jose Enrique for West Brom

West Brom have been linked with making a move for Liverpool defender Enrique.

The Baggies are still on the look out for a new left-back, but a report in the Express and Star claims that Jose Enrique is not high on Tony Pulis’ list of transfer targets.

Chris Brunt has been playing left-back for much of Pulis’ reign at the Hawthorns, and he wants to bring in competition for the natural midfielder. The Birmingham Mail claimed that Liverpool man Enrique was a target, but it now looks as if he will not be moving to the Midlands.

Enrique is unlikely to feature at Anfield this season, and it was stated that he will be heading out on loan to ease up the pressure on Brendan Rodgers squad. He is behind Alberto Moreno in the pecking order, and youngster Joe Gomez started at left-back for the Reds last weekend as they drew with Stoke City.

Whilst the report does not rule out Pulis showing an interest in Enrique, it is stated that he is not high on the coach’s list of priorities for the problem position.

It is not stated who Pulis is looking at bringing in, but it is expected that a new left-back will join before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
