Redknapp names Berahino as the forward he can see joining Tottenham

Harry Redknapp

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp feels Saido Berahino could still end up at the club.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp told talkSPORT that he could definitely see his old side being interested in a deal for West Brom forward Saido Berahino.

Redknapp has suggested that Berahino could now be available following Rickie Lambert’s move to the Baggies, which has improved the number of attacking options that Tony Pulis has available.

There is a real need for Tottenham to sign some attacking support before the end of the transfer window because it would be naïve of the club to rely on Harry Kane staying fit and performing for a second full year running.

“I’m sure there will be teams looking at earlier results, which changes everything – There will be plenty of movement still and I think with Lambert in they’re not short – I could definitely see Tottenham being interested, yeah,” he told talkSPORT.

Reasons Berahino is perfect for Spurs

Berahino is a perfect player for Tottenham because he’s got pace, he can play out wide and he already has a relationship with Kane, from when the pair have been in the England under-21 ranks together.

It seems like a no-brainer for the North Londoners but they will be under pressure to get some sort of deal done quickly because of how close the transfer deadline now is.

The closer it becomes, the more bargaining power that selling clubs have and the fees for players can increase.

With Daniel Levy keeping his business head on at all times, it may then be the case that Spurs don’t over pay for Berahino, which would leave Mauricio Pochettino with a problem.
