Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela has confirmed Roberto Soldado is to leave the club.

Tottenham Hotspur Erik Lamela has let it slip that teammate Roberto Soldado's departure is imminent.

Soldado did not feature in pre-season for the club and has been linked with a return to Spain, with The Mirror reporting Spurs are willing to accept a huge loss on him.

Lamela posted a tweet wishing Soldado luck, without naming his destination - only to later delete the tweet.

The two players signed in the summer of 2013, with money subsequently earned back through selling Gareth Bale.

Neither have performed well but Soldado last season was particularly poor, scoring only two goals.

He was responsible for a terrible miss against Fiorentina in the Europa League last season which preceded their exit, and appeared to be bereft of confidence throughout 2014/15.

It is little surprise he appears destined for an exit, and attention will to whether Spurs can succeed in also offloading Emmanuel Adebayor.

Soldado joins Vlad Chiriches, Paulinho, and Etienne Capoue among the players signed during Andre Villas-Boas' last summer in charge, who have already been sold. Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen remain.
