Nolan has explained that he wasn’t surprised by the emotional way that Noble celebrated after the final whistle, as the Hammers secured an impressive 2-0 win against Arsenal last weekend on the opening day of the season.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has a very young and exciting team and it will be interesting to see where the likes of Noble and Nolan fit in for the rest of the season.
“I found it quite funny but that is Nobes for you. The lad wears his heart on his sleeve and he is a fantastic boy,” he told whufc.com.
“You could see how much it meant to him and everyone at the football club. We have got to follow that up this week, otherwise it will be a waste.”
“I definitely feel he will be the skipper of this Club and that is who I am tipping to succeed me.”
Do Noble and Nolan have parts to play?
They do but it’s important that Bilic uses them in the right way over the rest of the season.
They both lack the speed and fitness they once possessed and the arguable best approach with both of them is to use them in short bursts for matches where the pressure is going to be high.
It would be naïve of Bilic to ignore them both altogether because their experience will be key in terms of helping players like Reece Oxford settle into the team effectively.
