McPherson hopeful Warburton can complete deal for Stevie May

Former Rangers player Dave McPherson hopes Mark Warburton can do a deal for forward Stevie May.

Former Rangers player Dave McPherson told the Glasgow Evening Times that he hopes the Gers can complete a deal for Stevie May.

The Sheffield Wednesday forward has been linked with a move to Mark Warburton’s club by the paper and McPherson is confident that he could have a big impact if the Scottish giants can complete a transfer before the deadline passes.

“I had heard there had been some talk about him before. He’s certainly a player that can score goals,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.

“He looks like someone who could add to what’s happening at the moment. What I like about the way the manager and Davie Weir have gone about things is that they have brought in the right characters.”

Speed is key

It’s important that Rangers work hard to get their business done as quickly as possible, because the closer the deadline becomes, the more power selling clubs have.

Rangers can’t be held to ransom over any deal because of their financial situation so manager Mark Warburton and the staff at the club need to work hard to try and add May, or any other player, to their ranks swiftly.

What’s encouraging about what Warburton has created at Rangers this summer is that there seems to be a real togetherness and unity, designed to help the team move forward and if May can add to that as well as adding important goals, there’s no downside in a move for the club.

Rangers are in a good position to mount a strong challenge to be able to get into a strong position for promotion, with two wins from two giving the club plenty of momentum.
