Leeds suffered defeat to Doncaster in the Capital One Cup.
Leeds United suffered a disappointing defeat in the Capital One Cup, losing on penalties to Doncaster Rovers.
The League One side did not look out of place against Championship opposition, and have earned a second round tie with Ipswich Town.
Leeds' defeat prompted Joey Barton to take to Twitter, expressing his surprise at the result.
Another shock in Capital One Cup. Prem clubs beware in the next round.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) August 13, 2015
Barton was linked with a move to Leeds earlier in the summer by The Sun.
He remains a free agent and had been expected to sign for West Ham this week, until a fan backlash prompted the club to pull out of the deal.
Fans have been calling on him to sign for Leeds all summer, with Barton admitting they were the support base which had been in touch more than any other.
Barton appeared to have expected Leeds to see off Doncaster last night, and may well have been disappointed with the Championship side's performance.
It could prompt him to feel there is a space in the team, where he can really make a difference, but let's face it, had Barton been interested then last night's display was hardly the best sales pitch.
