Watford youngsters don’t remember Kewell from his playing days

Former Leeds United and Liverpool winger Harry Kewell has been busy speaking about the demands of coaching the Watford Under-21 side.

Harry Kewell may be familiar to millions as arguably one of the best Australian footballers to ever grace the Premier League, but try telling that to the Watford youngsters he coaches.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN, the 36-year-old revealed that while he is enjoying the experience of managing the Hornets’ under-21 side, his top flight experience does not count for a whole lot:

"I know what it takes to play at the highest level but every player is different,"

"As coach of the U21s, it's not about reminiscing because some of them don't even remember me as a player."

Instead, the new role has seen Kewell develop his man-management and coaching skills.

One particular area that he is keen to stress the importance is determination, with the Australian eager to push players to give their all in training.

Watford’s under-21 side were held to a 0-0 draw last time out against Sheffield Wednesday’s youth outfit

Next up for Kewell and his team is a home encounter with Hull City on Monday night.

Now how many of the Tigers youth stars remember him from his Premier League glory days? A few, we hope.
