The Hammers are pursuing a striker this summer after problems with Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll.
West Ham United are looking for a new striker this month. The club are currently short in the department because of injuries to both Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll.
One name that was linked with a move to Upton Park was Raul Jimenez.
The Mexican will however not be a West Ham player next season. He has instead joined Benfica.
The club confirmed the move on their official website earlier today, complete with a picture of the player posing in his new team colours.
He has joined the club from Atletico Madrid on a contract until 2020 after his move to West Ham was hijacked.
The player had even been presented with a work permit to play in England but then decided that Benfica was for him.
A week ago Benfica purchased half of his registration rights from his representative Jorge Mendes, who was intent on him heading to Portugal.
AS also reported last week that going out of the Europa League had changed Jimenez’s opinion on whether to sign for West Ham or not.
Now The Hammers will have to continue their search for a striker elsewhere.
