Alan Brazil backs Petr Cech to improve at Arsenal

Former Spurs striker Alan Brazil has suggested Petr Cech will pull through a difficult start to his career with Arsenal.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Alan Brazil explained on his breakfast show for talkSPORT that he feels Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech will come good for the Gunners.

The summer arrival from Chelsea looked unconvincing in his first game in the Premier League club for the Hammers, but Brazil feels he will excel over the course of the season, saving the club more points than producing mistakes.

“I think Cech has already had his flap for the season – He will come good for them over the course of the season,” he said on talkSPORT.

Cech is a top quality and reliable player

It was always going to be difficult for Cech coming in at Arsenal because he’s still getting to know the new players just in front of him in defence.

They are still developing their relationship in terms of what they expect from each other, the sort of spaces they should be leaving and the sort of goalkeeper Cech is, in terms of whether he looks to clear pressure or wants defenders to take charge of situations.

He’s experienced enough to know the importance of carrying forward a strong focus for the game against Crystal Palace this weekend and the need to be faultless.

Palace can’t match Arsenal in terms of going toe-to-toe with their passing game so they need to rely more on being able to get the ball into the box quickly and putting the goalkeeper under some real pressure.

Cech will be aware to that, he can be trusted to deal with it and he will be a success for the Gunners.
