Tottenham round-up: N'Jie edges closer, confident of landing Berahino, Townsend update

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Tottenham are close to completing the signing of Clinton N'Jie from Lyon, according to several reports, including one from the Daily Telegraph.

The 21-year-old is said to be costing the club around £12 million - with £10 million up front and £2 million in add-ons - and is expected to travel to London to undergo a medical ahead of completing a move.

The Telegraph reports that Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino will also look to bring in one more out-and-out striker and a central midfielder before the transfer window closes.

One of those targets is West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino, with Spurs confident they can do a deal before the deadline passes, according to the Daily Mail.

The Baggies are said to be holding out for a fee of around £25 million, which remains a stumbling block to any move, and Chairman Daniel Levy is only prepared to pay around half of the asking price for now.

Spurs believe they can get their man for £18 million, and that Berahino is keen to join them.

Tottenham winger Andros Townsend is wanted by three Premier League clubs, according to the London Evening Standard.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Sunderland are all interested in the player, but he wants to fight for a place in the Spurs team and is desperate to convince Pochettino that he can play a part at White Hart Lane.

The report says Spurs are willing to listen to offers for Townsend, and a fee of around £12 million could persuade them to sell.

It also states that winger Aaron Lennon, who spent part of last season on loan at Everton, is holding out for a permanent move to Goodison Park after being told to train with Tottenham's younger players.
