Sheffield Wednesday beat Mansfield Town 4-1.
Carlos Carvalhal's Sheffield Wednesday side produced a near immaculate performance to see off Mansfield Town in the Capital One Cup.
While fellow Championship sides Brentford and Nottingham Forest suffered defeats to lower league opposition, Sheffield Wednesday never looked like losing.
Coming off the back of a weekend win in the Championship against Bristol City, Carvalhal rotated his squad and gave chances to new signings Lucas Joao and Modibo Sougou.
Both players found the scoresheet, as did Jose Semedo, who struck his first goal for the club in four years.
Joao's goal was assisted by fellow new boy Alex Lopez, and looked bright throughout the game.
The 21-year-old was a summer signing from Nacional, but Carvalhal was keen to warn after the game that he still has a lot to learn, speaking to the Sheffield Star.
He said: "He is a baby but with very big potential. He has everything to be a top player but we must give him time.
“It is not good to create too many expectations around him because he is a very young player. He has had to grow up very quickly in the last month. We must give him and support."
Owls fans were clearly impressed with what they saw, taking to Twitter to rave about his display and potential.
Here's a look at the reaction...

Lucas Joao, on the other hand, is simply tremendous. *I realise we were playing Mansfield in the League Cup first round— Aiden Cusick (@aidencusick) August 11, 2015

Very early days but looks like we've uncovered a gem in Lucas Joao! #swfc— Ryan Morton (@rymortttt) August 11, 2015
I see Carlos Carvalhal doesn't want too much expectation heaping on future #swfc legend and Ballon d'Or winner Lucas Joao. No problem CC.— Richard Fidler (@richardfidler) August 11, 2015
