The Yorkshire club will not be winning the Serbian youngster to Elland Road.
It was reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post earlier in the week that the move for the Serbian defender-midfielder Veljkovic had stalled over a lack of guarantees regarding first-team football for the 19-year-old at Elland Road.
A reported from the same publication has now confirmed that deal looks to be off. It appears there has been no further movement regarding the deal and that the deal will not be happening.
Veljkovic is one of the better talents in the Tottenham system. Signed from FC Basel in 2011 he spent time on loan with both Middlesbrough and Charlton Athletic in the Championship last season.
He then went on to shine at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with Serbia this summer, helping his nation to winning the championship in New Zealand.
Capable of playing at both centre-back and holding midfield he would have been a great squad player for Leeds but it is understandable that Leeds would not guarantee football as he would have had top competition for those positions.
With that in mind it seems that nobody would have won out of this deal going ahead, so the best thing for Veljkovic is to wait for something else to come up.
