Premier League sides, Championship clubs and French outfits are all tracking the former Newcastle and QPR man according to reports.
Joey Barton's collapsed move to West Ham may be disappointing for the one time England cap, even if there are plenty of Hammers fans who are more than happy that he won't be turning out in their colours next season, but the 32-year-old certainly has plenty of other options to consider for his next club, according to Sky Sports sources.
The possibility of a move to the Boleyn Ground was always surprising given comments co-chairman David Gold had previously made about the player, and so it turned out as supporters made their opinions known on Barton.
Sky have said that one Championship club are chasing the former QPR and Newcastle United midfielder, with Sky Bet saying Derby County and Nottingham Forest are currently the two favourites for his signature, as well as two from the Premier League and two from France, with Barton's former club Marseille believed to be one of those from Ligue 1 looking at him.
The controversial playmaker is still clearly well thought of from his brief time across the Channel, when he helped L'OM to second spot behind PSG, playing 33 matches and scoring once in 2012/13.
It is also unsurprising that there is Championship interest in a player who just over a year ago played a major part in helping QPR into the Premier League via the playoffs. Though the resulting campaign in the top flight saw the R's finish bottom and sink back down to the second tier, Barton was arguably one of the better performers at Loftus Road across the season, ensuring he still has a couple of followers in the Premier League.
Barton remains in the papers as he looks for a new club, with the Chronicle running a poll saying 72% of voting Newcastle fans would be happy to have him back at St James's Park.
Whatever your opinion on him, it looks very likely that Barton will have a new deal sooner rather than later.
