The Spanish midfielder would be an astute signing from Everton.
Everton are interested in signing Malaga midfielder Sergi Darder to strengthen their current options at the club. The Daily Star are reporting that The Toffees are keen on signing the player with a fee of around £8 million being mooted.
The midfield maestro was all set to make a similarly priced switch to French outfit Lyon last week but the deal soon collapsed after his third-party owners asked for a fee the French side were not going to pay for the player. The deal therefore came to an end, despite the player wanting the switch.
So any negotiations would indeed carry difficulties for Everton.
The club could certainly do with another central midfield option. Mo Besic is currently injured, although is nearing a return, whilst Darron Gibson is rarely fit. Gareth Barry looked slow off the mark against Watford at the weekend and Ross Barkley is being used in a more advanced position.
The Spanish under-21 international is one of the top young talents in La Liga and would be a great addition to the Everton midfield department.
However, as with previous attempts to sign the likes of Joao Moutinho and Lucho Gonzalez in the Moyes-era, third-party ownership might prove a stumbling block.
