Both Aston Villa and West Brom have been linked with a making a move for the Belgian playmaker, as per the Birmingham Mail, and it is easy to see why.
The 21-year-old is already a key player for Andelecht, a fully-capped Belgium international, and looks to have all the potential to be one of the best midfielders in Europe in a few years.
A strong creative talent, who also possesses an eye for goal, Praet is likely to be playing for one of the best teams in a few years, and Villa and West Brom were looking to get ahead of the game by signing him before the transfer window closes.
However, the latest report states that neither team are close to completing a deal for him - due to various reasons.
Villa, firstly, are known to have shown an interest in Praet last month, but the HLN report states that they have never opened talks with Anderlecht following that initial move. The recent weeks have seen no formal approach from Villa as they favour other transfer targets.
West Brom on the other hand, had made formal approaches for Praet, and looked to be close to securing a deal. However, it is indicated that after watching the Baggies lose 3-0 to Manchester City on Monday, the youngster was not impressed at Tony Pulis’ style of football.
He is technically skilled with the ball at his feet, and would prefer to move to a club where he can continue to develop in that style.
Unless Pulis can convince Praet otherwise, it appears as if the talented playmaker will be remaining in his homeland for the foreseeable future.
