Report: Aston Villa tracking Nottingham Forest youngster Alex Iacovitti

Villa Park

Aston Villa are keen on signing the Nottingham Forest prospect this summer.

According to the Mirror, Aston Villa are looking to sign Alex Iacovitti from Nottingham Forest this summer, having been tracking him for a number of month.

His former academy manager Kevin McDonald now works at Villa Park, and wants to bring the impressive defender with him before the transfer window closes.

Forest are under a transfer embargo and, due to the financial restrictions placed upon them, have little control over the transfer of their stars.

Iacovitti may still only be a youth team player, but if he believes his career will stall at the City Ground, he could be tempted to make the step up to the Premier League - even if first-team chances will be limited.

Who is Alex Iacovitti?

Iacovitti is a central defender, who can also play at left-back, and is known as a talented ball player in the back-line. He has Italian roots, but is a Scottish youth international, and has already played at Under-21 level for the club - despite being just 17-years-old.

He is comfortable playing the ball out of defence, but is assured in the back-line with an experience beyond his years, and looks to have all the skills required to be a top level modern-day centre-half.
