The Spanish left-back has high hopes for his team-mate.
Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has been talking to Spanish paper Marca today about all things Liverpool, including the departure of Raheem Sterling and how Jordon Ibe can one day take his place and be worth as much as the now Manchester City player.
“If Liverpool look after him then he can become another player worth €69 million (£49m). He is super quiet, very much like Raheem was, but you can tell he has more.
“He has been our best player in pre-season.”
Those are certainly some strong words and Liverpool will hope he can go on to have such an impact at Anfield.
Like Sterling, Ibe has been brought up to Anfield from football down south and thrived at the club.
He started the season with an assured performance against Stoke City at the weekend and at only 19-year-old he has a sensational career ahead of him.
This season he will be looking to play a lot more football at Liverpool than he did last season. He played 14 times last season, which would have been more had it not been for an injury late in the campaign.
It will also help that he is more likely to be playing in a preferred position, rather than in something of a wing-back role.
Whilst Enrique’s time at Liverpool looks like coming to an end Ibe’s looks like it is about to take off and the left-back will be hoping to see the teenager go on to reach his potential.
