West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has told the club's official website that he was impressed with new signing Dimitri Payet against Arsenal.
The Hammers recorded a shock 2-0 win over Arsene Wenger's Gunners on Sunday, stunning the Emirates Stadium with a superb performance.
It was a great start for new manager Slaven Bilic, and he had new signing Payet to thank after a virtuoso display from the French international.
Payet, 28, hit 17 assists for Marseille last season before making a surprise move to Upton Park, becoming Bilic's marquee signing this summer.
The Frenchman was outstanding against Arsenal, and put in a delightful free kick of Cheikhou Kouyate to head home the opening goal - and Payet's new team-mate Kouyate has praised him during an interview with the West Ham official website, noting his vision whilst on the ball.
"He has extraordinary vision," said Kouyate. "The first game that he played here, we played together, he gave me the ball and I missed. The second one was against Norwich, I missed again, and he said it will be third time lucky. Sunday he gave me the third one and I scored, so he was right."
"To think that was only his first game, away from home, against Arsenal, he has shown all his talent. He gave Arsenal's defenders a tough time, I really hope he's going to continue like that," he added.
Payet certainly entertained Hammers fans with his skill and creativity in the final third, and if he can continue to play like that this season, West Ham have a great chance of a top eight finish.
West Ham even allowed Stewart Downing to leave Upton Park this summer having signed Payet, and it certainly seems that they are pinning their hopes on the French playmaker - and so far, that appears to be a wise move from Bilic and his Hammers.
