The ADO stopper netted an unbelievable effort to secure a 2-2 draw against PSV last night.
Den Haag goalkeeper and former Liverpool youngster Martin Hansen made headlines yesterday with his astonishing added time equaliser against Eredivisie champions PSV in the first game of the new season, a goal that was notable for plenty of reasons.
It wasn't just the fact that the effort went in so late in the game (95th minute) to secure a point in the 2-2 draw, or even the fact it was a goalkeeper who went up for the free kick to find the net, what was particularly stunning about the goal was the superb volleying technique the Dane displayed to flick the ball into the net with his heel.
As the cross came in from the right, Hansen jumped under pressure and whipped his right foot up to catch the ball and send it hurtling towards the far corner, ensuring his name was trending in his home country.
Many spectators noted the similarity between Hansen's strike, which can be seen here courtesy of Sky Sports, and the much lauded Zlatan Ibrahimovic effort that the Swede scored against Bastia in 2013.
And there must be something in the water either side of Oresund that helps young players pull off crazy volleys like the two Scandinavians managed, with Hansen growing up in Copenhagen, just a few miles from Zlatan's childhood home of Malmo.
25-year-old Hansen spent six years at Liverpool as a young goalkeeper, arriving from Brondby in 2006, and coming through the academy system at Melwood, with the Dane winning the FA Youth Cup 2007 while at Merseyside.
Though he never made an appearance for the Reds during his time in England, he did take in a short spell at Bradford City that saw him play four league games for the Bantams. The closest he got to first team action at Liverpool was being named on the bench for the ill-fated League Cup tie against Northampton in 2010, though he was named in six match-day squads in total.
A Danish international all the way up to the Under-21 group, with many of his caps coming while he was at Anfield, Hansen was sold by Liverpool in 2012, taking in spells at Viborg and then Nordsaelland, before arriving at the Hague in 2014. He has made 34 league appearances for the Residentionclub - unsurprisingly, he has only scored one goal across his career, and it is one that plenty of strikers would struggle to better.
