Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths believes Scott Allan should turn down Rangers to stay with Hibs

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths wants to see Scott Allan not move to Rangers.

Allan looks to be Rangers’ prime transfer target this summer, but Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths has told the Herald that he should stay with Hibs.

The striker said: “If Hibs want to push for promotion, they have to keep their best players. Scotty is definitely one of them. You can understand why he wants to go, but from a selfish point-of-view I want him to stay at Hibs because I want to see them back in the top flight.”

Allan is undoubtedly Hibs’ best player, and is arguably the best player in the entire Scottish Championship.

He was imperative to the club reaching the play-offs last season, and he will only improve this term as Hibs look to win promotion back to the top flight.

He has been linked with Rangers, and Sky Sports have confirmed that they have made three offers for him - none of which have met Hibs’ valuation of their star player.

He is a player who looks well suited to Mark Warburton;s set up at Ibrox, and not only would signing him strengthen the Gers, but they would be directly weakening a rival in the race for promotion.

Griffiths wants to see former club Hibs in the top flight, and doesn’t want Old Firm rivals Rangers back, and that is why he believes Allan should stay at his current club rather than moving to Ibrox.
