A selection of stories in the media involving Aston Villa in the last 24 hours.

Aston Villa are in pole position to secure the signing of Nicolai Boilesen after the player rejected the advances of Genoa, according to Calcio Mercato.

The report claims that the Ajax man is now in negotiations with Villa and will reportedly fetch around £2.5 million, with just a year remaining on his current deal.

Adama Traore could be Tim Sherwood’s next recruit, with the Telegraph reporting that a deal could be completed in the next 24 hours.

The Barcelona B winger had interested Liverpool and Stoke this summer but is now heading to Birmingham for talks, ahead of completing a £7 million switch.

Villa are also said to be plotting an ambitious swoop for Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

Barcelona and Roma are among those linked but the report claims Villa have made their interest known in the last few hours and are awaiting the go ahead to initiate talks.

Meanwhile, Andros Townsend is back on the Villain’s radar, according to the Mirror, with Spurs unwilling to bend on their £15 million valuation.

The England international returned to training yesterday and Villa are said to have rekindled their interest but face competition from Newcastle.

Finally, Villa mainstay Ashley Westwood is set to be rewarded with a new long-term deal after impressing Sherwood since his arrival, as per the Birmingham Mail.

The arrivals of Jordan Veretout and Idrissa Gueye this summer have not overshadowed the midfield enforcer and he looks like being the latest Englishman to pen a new deal at Villa Park.
