Payet is arguably Slaven Bilic’s best summer signing, as he put in a superb performance against Arsenal last weekend to back up some good pre-season form.
The worry for any player making their way in the Premier League is the idea that they can be bullied physically and knocked off the ball, but Brassell has suggested that’s nothing new for the talent midfield.
“The thing with Payet is that he’s come from a league in France where he’s been used to getting kicked all the time, it’s nothing new to him,” he told talkSPORT.
Why Bilic and West Ham need to be a little careful
It’s important that West Ham and Bilic are careful with Payet because of how important he looks like becoming for the club.
Any player who is vulnerable to getting kicked more during games, is more vulnerable in terms of picking up injury issues and it’s important the Hammers work hard to ensure that Payet doesn’t suffer many consequences.
The player can also ensure that he’s giving himself the best possible chance of staying injury free by working hard in training sessions to improve his core strength, which will in turn improve his chances of being consistent.
