The defender has also praised Slaven Bilic for his tactics that sealed the win.
The Hammers ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates courtesy of goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate.
It was a surprise victory for Slaven Bilic’s side in his first game in charge in the Premier League, but took on extra significance as it was the club’s first at Arsenal for quite some time.
And Reid says the result ranks up there among the best during his time at Upton Park.
“We have not had the best of performances against Arsenal, but we were compact as a unit and broke in numbers when we had the opportunity. In the second half we were obviously under pressure but I thought we controlled the game and limited them to chances.”
Bilic tactics deserve praise
The New Zealand defender has also praised the new boss for the tactics he employed to secure victory at the Emirates.
The former Croatia and Besiktas boss was brought in as Sam Allardyce’s replacement this summer with the remit of bringing a better style of football to the club ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium next season.
While they looked dangerous on the attack on Sunday, it was a victory built on an impressive defensive display from the likes of Reid and youngster Reece Oxford, with the Hammers able to limit Arsenal to half chances at best.
And Reid has labelled the tactics employed by Bilic on Sunday as 'brilliant'.
“I thought the tactics were brilliant against Arsenal,” he added.
"We were clever and closed them down where they were going to be good and limited the number of chances they had on goal.”
