Aston Villa are 'strongly interested' in signing Belgian attacker Dennis Praet, report FootGoal.Net.
Praet has been linked with Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion, although The Times reported they had fallen short of Anderlecht's asking price.
FootGoal.Net report Anderlecht are now planning to lower their demands, but it is Aston Villa instead who are emerging as frontrunners to sign the attacking midfielder.
Praet, 21, has one cap for Belgium, and scored nine goals for Anderlecht last season, including one in the Champions League.
Villa are said to be preparing an offer which may even meet Anderlecht's original demands of around £8.5 million, in order to blow competition out of the water, which also includes Europa League winners Sevilla.
The Premier League side are to send representatives to Belgium with an aim to complete a deal this week.
FootGoal.Net report: "Emissaries are expected in Brussels this week and the player could even pass medical tests by the end of the week."
