Manchester City face competition from Spanish giants for de Bruyne, Wolfsburg boss confirms

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in reported Manchester City target Kevin de Bruyne.

Wolfsburg boss Dieter Hecking has told reporters that Manchester City have been joined by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Kevin de Bruyne, Spanish paper AS report.

The Belgium international experienced a wonderful campaign in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 10 goals and adding a further 20 assists as Wolfsburg finished second in the table.

As previously reported by Sky Sports, City are going all out in order to sign the former Chelsea man and have tabled a substantial £47 million bid for his services.

However, Manuel Pellegrini’s men may face a fight in order to bring him to the Premier League as Wolfsburg boss Hecking has told reporters of interest from La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“Aside from Manchester City, I have to say that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are interested in de Bruyne and there have been movements for him. I will listen to all offers but his exit will only come about when an extraordinary offer is tabled,” Hecking was quoted as saying by AS.

De Bruyne to La Liga?

If Pedro decides to leave Barcelona this summer, the Catalans have scope to bring in another attacking midfielder in order to rival trio Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi for a starting place.

However, his powerful style and need to use the space doesn’t really fit in with the Nou Camp outfit’s way of playing and a move to El Clasico rivals Real Madrid is arguably a more realistic one.

Largely depending on the future of Karim Benzema, again Madrid could have the need to make another attacking addition, and their counter-attacking style is perfect for de Bruyne’s skill set.

The 24-year-old boasts plenty of pace, power and athleticism and some could argue he would provide the perfect foil for the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish capital.
