Leeds United's under-21s played Ipswich Town on Monday evening but what did Whites fans make of Lee Erwin's contribution?
Leeds United’s under-21 side kicked off their new league campaign with a match against Ipswich Town on Monday and while the Whites lost 2-1 there were plenty of positives to take from the encounter.
Luke Murphy stepped up his return from injury with a 60-minute outing while fellow first-team players Casper Sloth and Lee Erwin also started the match.
The latter was signed this summer from Motherwell and will be tasked with scoring the goals that fire Leeds back up the Championship table this season.
While Chris Wood and Mirco Antenucci are currently ahead of him in the pecking order, Erwin has the talent to become a prolific goal-scorer at Elland Road in time.
The 21-year-old scored six goals and provided eight assists during his time at Motherwell and while that is not exactly form to set the pulse racing he is a wonderful talent who built up a head of steam in the final few weeks of the campaign, scoring and assisting on a regular basis.
After his outing for the under-21s this week we took to Twitter to see what Leeds fans thought of Erwin’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Lee Erwin just twatted Cameron Stewart. Clearly he's thought very specifically about how to endear himself to our fans. #lufc— Tommy D (@tdski_LUFC) August 10, 2015
Hope we don't waste Lee Erwin's ability by leaving him on the bench and allowing him to feature in u21 games during mid-week. He looks good.— The Mighty Leeds (@themightyleeds) August 10, 2015
