The Czech goalkeeper's greatest critics will insist he was at fault for both the club's goals as they slumped to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of their London rivals. First, he came charging out of his goal to intercept a West Ham free-kick but was beaten to the ball by Cheikhou Kouyate, who gave the Hammers a shock first-half lead.
Then, early in the second period, Mauro Zarate struck - with a neat finish from outside the box - to cause further embarrassment for the Arsenal 'keeper. Having been beaten at his near post, there was no coming back for the Gunners man, as his side slumped to a surprise defeat at the hands of their local rivals.
Despite his debut blunders, however, opposition number Adrian was quick to offer reassurance to the former Chelsea man - referring to him as 'one of the best keepers ever'.
Adrian's kind words will come as little consolation for the points lost at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday but Cech will take solace from a fantastic sporting gesture from the West Ham man.
