Report: Derby County have not submitted offer for Nottingham Forest’s Michail Antonio

Derby County have been linked with signing the Nottingham Forest star this summer.

Antonio is Forest’s best player, and is one of the best in the entire Championship, and a report in the Derby Telegraph has suggested that he will be staying at the City Ground - rather than moving across the East Midlands.

Derby County, Forest’s local rivals and Championship promotion candidates, have been linked with making a move for Antonio by the Daily Mirror, but the latest report claims that no bid was submitted.

The club were said to have have made a £5 million offer for Antonio as they look to further strengthen an already impressive side, but the Derby Telegraph report has played down these reports, claiming that there is ‘no truth in the speculation’ and that there has been no contact between the two clubs concerning a possible deal.

This will ease the fears of Forest, who may have been forced to sell Antonio if a large offer came in. The Rams can match the best teams for financial strength, and with Forest suffering from FFP restrictions, selling Antonio would free up a large portion of wages, as well as bring a welcome income through the transfer fee.

However, if no offer has been made, then there is no reason Antonio will leave, and Forest fans will be hoping that he enjoys the same kind of blistering season this time round as he did at the City Ground last term.
