Burnley have made a bid for Brentford striker Andre Gray as they rival Hull City for the player's signature, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Hull have been leading the chase for Gray with Steve Bruce's side seeing two offers rejected by Brentford for the 24-year-old.
Hull are expected to come back with a third offer for Gray as Bruce has made the forward his top target as he aims to replace Dame N'Doye at the KC Stadium.
However, Burnley have now entered the chase for Gray as they look to bolster their attacking options after losing Danny Ings to Liverpool and Ashley Barnes to long-term injury this summer.
Gray impressed in his debut season for Brentford last term after his arrival from Luton Town, helping the club reach the play-off semi-finals.
Brentford are reluctant to lose last season's top scorer with Gray coming off the bench to score and inspire their 2-2 draw from two goals down.
