Leeds United are hopeful of signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Milos Veljkovic on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close the club.
Leeds boss Uwe Rosler is in the market for a defensive midfielder as he looks to complete his summer transfer business and he has identified Veljkovic as one of his top targets.
Veljkovic, who can also play in central defence, is highly-regarded at Tottenham after joining the summer from FC Basel in 2011.
The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut in April 2014 and has gone on to make two further appearances in the first-team.
Veljokovic spent two spells out on loan last season at Middlesbrough and Charlton Athletic so that he could get valuable first-team experience under his belt.
The Serbian made four appearances for Middlesbrough before joining Charlton on loan in January, but his stay was cut short by injury after only three outings.
Tottenham are happy to loan out Veljkovic again this season so that he can continue his development and Leeds are leading the chase for his signature.
The two clubs are locked in talks over a loan move, but have so far been unable to reach an agreement over the terms of the deal.
