The Belgium international striker made his competitive debut for the Reds against Stoke City away from home in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old started the encounter at the Britannia Stadium and played for the entire 90 minutes, helping Liverpool to a 1-0 win.
Former Liverpool striker Aldridge was following the game, and he was impressed with Benteke’s heading ability in the first half.
1 positive of the 1st half is that benteke has won every header!something we havnt had for ages, good to see, from a strikers point of view.— John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) August 9, 2015
Benteke was far from his best on his debut for Liverpool, but he did show that he can be a success for the Merseyside outfit.
The striker, who joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Aston Villa last month, gave the team a more direct and alternative way to play their game.
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet made 24 long passes on Sunday, with Benteke receiving more passes from him that any other player in the team.
