Bournemouth are linked with Barnsley’s Mason Holgate.

According to a report in the Mirror, Bournemouth have had a £500,000 bid accepted for highly-rated Barnsley youngster Mason Holgate.

The 18-year-old has been allowed to spend time on trial at Manchester United this summer after entering the final year of his contract with The Tykes.

Newcastle United, as per The Sun, and Aston Villa via a report in the Daily Mail have also been accredited with a strong interest as lasting career in the Premier League beckons for the defender.

However, fresh reports claim Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth are the club most likely to win the race for his signature, seeing a considerable bid accepted by the League One side.

Playing experience:

Despite his young age, Holgate featured 22 times for Barnsley last season and has shown his versatility by playing at both right-back and in the middle.

Bournemouth:

A move to Bournemouth is currently an extremely attractive proposition due to their current Premier League status and burgeoning reputation for playing an exciting brand of football.

The Cherries are expansive under Eddie Howe, and the majority of their current squad are the same players who have helped the club to promotions from League One and the Championship.

Holgate would be given a great platform to develop on the south coast and opportunities to feature in the first-team, regardless of the opponent or competition as proven in the past.
