Rodney Marsh lauds the Julian Dicks effect on Twitter

Upton Park

The former forward heaped praise on the West Ham coach after the east London side's 2-0 win at Arsenal.

Rodney Marsh has heaped praise on one of the unsung heroes behind West Ham United's 2-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, the former forward feels Julian Dicks has made a real difference since his appointment to Slaven Bilic's backroom staff at Upton Park this summer.

This was a performance that smacked of 'the Terminator' - as well as Bilic - as West Ham executed their game plan to perfection and defended brilliantly, leaving the Emirates Stadium with a clean sheet to their name.

And, while many flocked to praise Reece Oxford for his superb Premier League debut aged just 16 - and Dimitri Payet and Mauro Zarate and Cheikhou Kouayte etc etc - Marsh lauded Dicks on Twitter for his work behind the scenes.

West Ham face Leicester City next in the league and the side who scored four goals against Sunderland could well test the Hammers' defence more than Arsenal did on Sunday afternoon.

But it looks as though West Ham's first-choice starting XI have got their defensive basics sorted out, something no doubt well practiced in training under the supervision of their coaching team.
