Manchester United transfer news: Van Gaal wants £35m for De Gea; £21m Pedro move imminent

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Mail on Sunday, Manchester United are demanding £35million from Real Madrid for goalkeeper David de Gea.

The Spaniard did not feature for United in their opening Premier League game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but manager Louis van Gaal has no intention of selling him on the cheap.

Real are reportedly readying a £25million bid for De Gea this week but that is allegedly still £10million short of United’s valuation, even if the player has just a year left on his current contract.

In other news, the Mirror claims United target Jasper Cillessen is getting more expensive by the week.

The Netherlands international has been tipped to replace De Gea at Old Trafford but despite van Gaal reportedly preparing a £25million bid of his own, Ajax boss Frank de Boer has warned United his ‘keeper's price tag has increased due to the Dutch club's failure thus far to sign a suitable replacement.

And finally, Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Barcelona winger Pedro is closing in on a move to United, with the English side prepared to pay £21million for the 28-year-old.

He would replace Angel Di Maria in United’s squad and is being tipped to arrive in the coming days.
