John Gregory makes a West Ham prediction that completely backfires on Twitter

Upton Park

The former Premier League boss clearly spoke a little too soon ahead of West Ham's 2-0 win at Arsenal.

Former Premier League manager John Gregory put his foot in his mouth on Twitter ahead of West Ham United's win at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, Gregory took to social media with a confident prediction that the Hammers will finish in the bottom four this season.

Naturally, the east London side went on to beat the Gunners 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium...

One result doesn't make a season, of course, but Gregory's West Ham prediction ended up completely backfiring considering the circumstances. Well played, the Irons.

This performance had Slaven Bilic and Julian Dicks written all over it. Two former West Ham defenders on the club's coaching staff who clearly got their game plan spot on at the Emirates Stadium.

They were helped, of course, by a lethargic Arsenal side who clearly believed their own pre-season hype. It looks like winning a couple of friendlies and failing to add to your outfield squad doesn't make you invincible, after all.

And, at the end of the day, if West Ham are bottom four material, based on Sunday - Arsenal are bottom three!
