Five free agent strikers Nottingham Forest should be looking to sign

Ricardo Vaz Te

Michael Frey remains the dream buy, but these names seem more realistic.

Nottingham Forest are currently under a transfer embargo that is making new signings very difficult at the City Ground.

Their recent move for Ben Hamer on loan has hit a snag and although they are hopeful to sign Michael Frey on loan from Lille, pessimists will be doubting that deal will ever come off.

In reality it is free agents they have been able to sign. Matt Mills, Jamie Ward and Dani Pinillos have all arrived on free transfers this summer.

With Djamel Abdoun and Radoslaw Majewski recently released, surely a free agent striker should be on the agenda.

The centre-forward position is their problem area at the moment, but there is some good talent out there available for nothing.

Here are five potential signings who should be within their wage budget…

Ricardo Vaz Te

The former West Ham man starred in Turkey with Akhisar Belediyespor last term but has left the club after just six months.

Reportedly keen on a return to England, he would make a shrewd signing for Dougie Freedman.

Leon Best

The Irish striker has not been in the best of form in recent times.

But he is a Nottingham boy, albeit a Notts County youth player when younger.

If they could get him back to his best than Leon would be a top acquisition.

Tomi Juric

A tall, strong and potent Australian international, Juric would be a great addition.

A work permit might be an issue but his wages would be small and he would be an unknown quantity to opposition.

Kamel Ghilas

Forest are probably sick of Algerian internationals but the centre-forward, formerly of Hull, could prove a good buy.

His ability to stay fit however might scupper any deal.

Cristian Herrera

The freshest of the bunch. The talented Spanish striker has just rescinded his contract with Elche and could join countryman Pinillos at the City Ground.
